COMMISSIONERS SUPPORT UNIT COMMITTEES

Successful units typically have engaged parents involved on the unit committee. Commissioners can mentor and support the relationship between unit leaders and the unit committee.

Here are some ways the Commissioner can improve the effectiveness of unit committees:

• Encourage committee members and parents to attend Roundtable
• Provide information on District and Council training events
• Conduct a training session on outdoor activities
• Present reports on advancement (teach them the benefits of advancement)
• Explain how Popcorn Sales help their boys as well as the unit
• Keep them informed of district and council activities
